INTRO

Have you ever fought a sword for a couple of hours and pulled a hook? Did you think to yourself - what was your drag set at? Well, with the KOBO Power Reel you have more control here.

Our very first customer has expressed an improved success rate while swordfishing after his first summer with the KOBO. He dialed in his drag control during a few keys areas - setting the hook, fighting the fish, and weight removal. While every fish responds differently, this is the baseline he starts with.

In Texas he'll fish with a lighter weight, 4-6 lbs depending on the day, and when he sets the hook he'll do so at 23-25 lbs for around 10 seconds. Removing the lead weight from the equation, thats 19-21 lbs of pressure at the hook. Once set, he'll back off the drag to 19-21 lbs (15-17 lbs at the hook). Finally after their weight is removed he'll drop the drag back a second time to 15 lbs till they catch or release the fish.

The previous 9 fish he hooked (non KOBO) he caught/released 6 of them. Since switching over to the KOBO he is 8:9. You might ask, well what happened on that 9th fish? Great question, the user on the reel (not the customer) pushed the drag up to 40lbs and pulled the hook.

These are the sort of success stories we like to hear and aspire for all our customers. While a total sample size of 18 isn't too large, we feel its the step in the right direction. Besides our digital drag readout there are plenty of features we think you'll enjoy.
